The first step to obtain any motorcycle license in Cyprus is to ensure possession of a valid learner's license for the desired category. Obtaining the A1 category is mandatory for all applicants, no matter their age, before progressing to higher categories.

Between the ages of 18-24 years old, the students must hold the A1 license for a minimum of two years to qualify for the A2 category, followed by additional two years in order to proceed to the A3 category. However, the students (older than 24 years old) can apply for the A1 category and proceed directly to the A3 category without a waiting period.
